Other CVFolk events

Temperance, Motofest and Warwick Folk Festival

In addition to Albany Theatre events, CVFolk stages occasional concerts (currently approx 2 per year) for the Leamington Folk Club at Leamington’s famous Temperance venue.

We have also brought a weekend of folk music to Coventry City Centre on the CVFolk Stage as part of the annual MotoFest, Coventry festival, and take over one of the stages of Warwick Folk Festival for an afternoon in the grounds of Castle Park.

All of these events provide further opportunity for CVFolk to showcase and promote the high standard of folk and acoustic music being performed by local artists.

Tickets sold out for this amazing night of music. The only disappointment was that Kristy Gallacher had to pull out very last minute as her youngest daughter was poorly. But Karen and Colin of KC Jones more than compensated by stepping in with just a few hours notice to provide za superb closing set.

Here’s the link for the video of this event.

Warwick Folk Festival 2024

Friday, 26th July 2024 Jester Stage, Main Site

Plus some amazing photos by Andrew Lock….

CVFolk’s concert at Warwick Folk Festival attracted a large and appreciative audience to the Jester Stage, right in the middle of the Festival Village, on a sunny Friday afternoon. MC-d by Pete Willow and with excellent sound management from Adam Beresford-Browne, the line-up of four Coventry and Warwickshire-based acts put on an amazing show.

This especially the case for The Stationary Wilburys who didn’t miss a beat when the generator failed and they calmly walked forwards to the audience while still playing acoustic and not missing a beat. The crowd loved it!

It was a delight to see Yonderland making their Festival debut by entertaining and maintaining the large receptive audience and getting them to sing choruses with gusto.

The Hoarse Whisperers played the perfect set for a folk festival, drawing on blues and trad American sources (as well as original stuff) with lots of light and shade, and going down the proverbial storm.

And it was such a treat to enjoy the singing and guitar playing of one of Coventry’s finest singes, songwriters and fingerpick guitarists, Kristy Gallacher to wind up the perfect afternoon, playing a much=clamoured for encore – her version of the Jackson C.Frank classic, The Blues Run The Game. Time off for maternity leave has lost her none of her star quality.

We’re very grateful to Warwick Folk Festival for giving CVFolk this fabulous opportunity to show off what’s excellent about the local folk scene, and to the festival audience who were appreciative and encouraging throughout the afternoon. The concert forms a major part of Andy Holdcroft‘s review in Hot Music Live – click here to read it.

Thursday, 8th February 2024 – Temperance, Leamington Spa.

As always, all tickets were sold out in advance for this fabulous line-up. Even more remarkable, considering the non-stop heavy rain that evening, everyone who had booked a ticket battled the elements and showed up!

Here’s a link to the concert itself, as livestreamed.
