Richard Scott is a musician and visual artist based in Gateshead. He mostly plays traditional dance music from Scandinavia and experimental improvised music; sometimes crystallising the two together. He has performed and recorded in the UK, France, Switzerland, Germany and Slovenia in improvising groups with Tapiwa Svosve, Silvan Schmid, Eddie Prévost, Sarah Farmer, Andrew Woodhead, Phil Durrant, Samuel Rodgers, James Opstad, Mark Sanders, Rachel Musson, Hannah Marshall, Xhosa Cole, James Malone and Joe Wright, and has played for dance at folk festivals and workshops across the UK and Sweden. His research interests in his visual art work and the cross-disciplinary area between art and music are focused on questions of perception; pattern ontology and emergent phenomena of systematic processes.
