‘Write a Song’ – Workshop w/Coventry Singer-Songwriters @ Albany Theatre - Clive Benfield Studio
May 4 @ 11:00 am – 1:30 pm

Continuing our monthly series of workshops with leading musicians and performers from the folk circuit, we are pleased to present a practical songwriting session on Saturday, 4th May with local songwriting luminaries, the Coventry Singer Songwriters.

Starting at the earlier time of 11am, this two-hour hands-on event will help you write a song from scratch! No previous songwriting experience is needed – our friendly CSS team will help you generate ideas, build chord progressions and melodies, and write a song! You’ll be given lots of help and suggestions as used by the professionals, plus possible chord progressions and even musical accompaniment.

The emphasis will be on having fun making music together – but also showing you the way that modern songs are written by amateurs and professionals alike! Bring your own instrument if you want, but the team will be happy to add musical backing if needed.

The workshop will offer you the chance to record your song, or even perform it to the rest of the group, should you wish to, at the end of the session!

Launched in 2010, Coventry Singer Songwriters is a warm and supportive group of local musicians who meet monthly to help, motivate and inspire each other to write new songs and share songwriting resources and contacts.  Group members have appeared on local and national radio, as well as many local clubs and festivals, and have featured on a number of previous CVFolk concerts here at the Albany Theatre.

Leaders of this session will be Paul Monks and Jane Moss (who perform as Yonderland), John Neal (from the group Jericho), Bob Powell (from The Harvesters) and Jon Harrington from the bands Little Mountain and The Stationary Wilburys).

Admission £5 – book in advance or pay at the Box Office when you arrive.
