From the wild coastal landscape of the Isle of Man, Matt Creer has established himself as an exciting emerging voice on the UK music scene. Former student of the Royal College of Music, London, the Manx songwriter’s music merges folk traditions, with warm, rich layered arrangements and vocals that have created a sound all of his own.
Ellie Gowers
At only 22, Ellie yields powerfully quaint songs with thought-provoking mature themes. Embedding heavy lyrical inspiration from the early greats like Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, and Nick Cave, Ellie has produced her own folk-driven contemporary style. Traces of Katie Melua, John Martyn and Laura Marling creep into her melodies.
Velvet Engine
Velvet Engine, the brainchild of Latina Northamptonian San-D Godoy – “Yearning Alt-Folk, with a sprightly but reflective soul”. Honest and heartfelt, Velvet Engine exudes soft and soulful femininity. A pleasant reprise from the days tribulations, these are the perfect sounds to cup-of-tea to. With 3 EP’s under her belt ‘Glimpse Of The Sun’ , ‘This Old Hat, and ‘Good People’ we can expect great things from this new breed of heart-warming alt-folk music and Velvet Engine will be sure to drive it in the right direction with her catalogue of honest yet timid and catchy songs.
