Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman

Following the highly successful first event in the newly established Back to the Roots concert series in Eathorpe Village Hall 2020 kicks off with a visit from award winning duo Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman. The second concert in the series will take place on Thursday 23 January at 7.30pm.

Devon based, Kathryn and Sean first worked together in Equation, a five piece band that included Kate Rusby and Sean’s two brothers – Seth and Sam Lakeman. Throughout the 90s the band enjoyed considerable success in the UK, Europe and the USA. That success earned them a reputation as a folk supergroup. Despite numerous changes in personnel Sean and Kathryn remained the constant core but as the new century dawned and Equation split up they became an official duo.

Over the years Kathryn and Sean have blended their professional and personal relationship into a totally original and captivating performance. They bring their song writing and musicianship to the fore with a combination of keyboards, guitar and vocals. Mixing traditional song arrangements with their self-penned material, their set explores the bitter to the sweet, the wry to the sad, the political to the passive.
